  • Successful completion of a Medicaid Nurse Aide equivalent course within the past three (3) years or proof of active status on the Medicaid Nurse Aide Registry.

Refer to the Practical Nursing curriculum guide for a complete listing of required courses.

An applicant who wishes to transfer nursing courses from another college must:

  • Meet all admission requirements
  • Schedule an appointment with the coordinator of the Practical Nursing Program, Marie Thieleman.
  • Have a faculty member from the program previously attended to submit a letter of recommendation to the program coordinator.

If more than three years have elapsed since initial enrollment in the first nursing courses in any nursing program, the applicant must repeat all nursing courses.

The Selection Process

Applicants must complete the application process by May 1 for Fall admission or November 1 for Spring admission.

Enrollment in the Practical Nursing Program may be limited because of available laboratory facilities in the community, as well as limited faculty and financial resources.

Admission is based upon a selection process according to results of the entrance exam. The applicants are rank-ordered from highest to lowest scores.

Preference is given to those applicants with the highest scores. In case of a tie, the applicant with the highest GPA is granted admission.

Selection of students for the Practical Nursing Program is made by the Admissions Committee.

Applicants are notified of acceptance, alternate or non-acceptance status for the nursing program by June for the Fall semester or by December for the Spring semester.

Costs

Costs include tuition, books, clinical/laboratory uniforms and supplies, health requirements, and fees associated with graduation, testing, and licensing. Anticipated cost for three semesters is more than $7,200.
