Assistant Skills I NAA 100 Class Dates and
Times Schedule of classes: Fall Spring Summer
NOTE: The schedule listed could be a prior semester
until the upcoming semester schedule is available. Verify the semester by referring
to the dates listed at the top of the schedule. CLASS DATES

Register for a Class
Class size is limited so register early! 1. Applicants must have
a current application
to the college. 2. Schedule an appointment with a counselor
or advisor to enroll. Course Requirements
Attendance The course consists of 75 hours of mandatory attendance.
If you miss a class, or part of a class, it will be your responsibility to make-up
the time (with your instructor's permission) for course completion. Textbook
The following required textbook can be purchased from the college bookstore:
Sorrentino & Gorek. (2003). Mosby's Textbook/Workbook package (Kentucky version)
for Long-Term Care Assistants. (5th ed.) St. Louis: Mosby, Inc. TB
Skin Test You will need to show written evidence of having a tuberculin
(Mantoux) skin test in the last 6 months or a negative chest x-ray in the last
year. This can be obtained from your family doctor, clinic or your local health
department. You must submit the written results by the third day of class.
Liability Insurance You are also required to purchase Medical
Liability Insurance prior to the clinical experience. To purchase insurance through
the college, please obtain a money order or cashier's check (not a personal check)
made to the order of West Kentucky Community and Technical College for the amount
of $20. The instructor will have the insurance form for you to complete. This
must also be submitted by the third day of class to assure that you may attend
the required clinical experience. Uniform Clinical uniforms
will be discussed in class. Testing Requirements
For The Kentucky Medicaid Nurse Aide Competency Test The following
will be required for all nurse aide testing candidates:
- An unexpired
state or federal issued photo identification
- A United States
Social Security card that is not laminated; and
- If the Social
Security card states "Not Valid for employment without immigration and Customs
enforcement authorization" or contains a similar statement a final examination
candidate shall present an Employment Authorization Document issued by the US
Department of Homeland Security
- The name on the identification
card and social security card must match.
