Long-term Care Employees


WKCTC offers MNA 100 courses each semester for long-term care employees. This allows employees to work while completing the course within the state regulated time-frame.


Registration and Testing

Medicaid Nurse Aide courses and the Kentucky Medicaid Nurse Aide Competency Examination are at the WKCTC Thompson Health Education Center (TEC), an off-campus facility. Refer to the TEC map for directions to the site.

Course Requirements

Attendance
The course consists of 75 hours of mandatory attendance. If you miss a class, or part of a class, it will be your responsibility to make-up the time (with your instructor's permission) for course completion.

TB Skin Test
You will need to show evidence of having a tuberculin (Mantoux) skin test in the last 6 months or a negative chest x-ray. This can be obtained from your family doctor, clinic or your local health department. You must submit the written results by the third day of class.

Uniform
Clinical uniforms will be discussed in class.


Testing Dates


Space is limited as only 6 individuals are tested at a time.


Testing will be on the second and fourth Fridays of each month.



Testing Requirements

The following will be required for all nurse aide testing candidates:

  • An unexpired state or federal issued photo identification

  • A United States Social Security card that is not laminated; and

  • If the Social Security Card states "Not Valid for employment without Immigration and Customs enforcement authorization" or contains a similar statement a final examination candidate shall present an Employment Authorization Document issued by the US Department of Homeland Security

  • A final examination candidate personal documents presented to the competency evaluation program proctor shall identify the candidate same full name to include middle initial. (If a middle initial is listed on one document, it must be present and match on all)

Costs
An invoice will be sent to the facility for the following applicable fees:

$200 for the course
$75 testing fee
$55 required textbook fee per student
$20 liability insurance

Retesting or challenging fees:
$60 Skills
$15 Written
