Associate
Degree Nursing Program Frequently Asked Questions Do
you have a waiting list? No. We require you to attend a conference
to apply to the program. After attending the conference, we will begin a nursing
admissions folder. What should I bring with me to the conference?
You're not required to bring anything but you may want to bring paper and
a pen to take notes. You will receive information about the Associate Degree Nursing
Program at the conference and have an opportunity to ask questions.
Is my folder complete? or Do you have my transcripts? A completed file
includes an application for admission to the college, high school transcript or
GED score report, official post-secondary education transcripts, and results of
the ACT or NLN exam. Please contact Pam Paxton at 270-534-3478 regarding
your nursing admission folder. How many points do I need to be accepted
to your program? or How many points do I have? ..... Applicants
with the highest total points will be admitted to the program. The points vary
each semester depending upon each applicants' total score and the number of students
we can accept. Therefore, there is not a specific number of points. Use
the admissions point scale
to determine your total points. When or How will I know that I'm accepted
to the program? Each applicant will receive a letter from the nursing
department regarding acceptance or non-acceptance. Letters are sent by March 31
if applying to the fall program or July 31 if applying to the spring program.
Can I call you instead of waiting for my letter? Due to the volume
of applicants and to protect the confidentiality of student records, this information
will not be given over the phone. If you do not receive a letter by the first
week of April or August, please stop by the Nursing Office. If I don't
get accepted, what can I do? It isn't uncommon for students to re-apply
to the program. The application letter you receive will indicate how to reapply.
I have a Licensed Practical Nursing license. Can I take the bridge course?
LPNs must be admitted to a KCTCS Associate Degree Nursing Program and receive
approval from their Nursing Program Coordinator to take the ACE
I exam. Students who pass the NLN ACE
I exam and meet course prerequisites may enroll in Nursing 198. For more information,
review the LPN Advanced
Standing Opportunities.
