Associate
Degree Nursing Program Advising and Registration for Fall 2008 classes
Priority Registration (Currently Enrolled Students)
March 31, 2008
Meeting
with an academic advisor during early registration is the optimum time for obtaining
a preferred schedule of classes and to receive career, curriculum, and graduation
information. Advising
Appointments (Nursing Students)
Nursing students (currently
enrolled in or accepted to a nursing class) are asked to see their specific
nursing advisor March 10-14 or March 24-28 prior to early registration.
Advising appointments are made by signing the appointment schedule posted
on the bulletin board in the A200 Nursing Corridor or on faculty office doors.
Please bring your ID number to the meeting.
Advising Sessions (Pre-Nursing / Nursing Pending)
Pre-nursing
students (individuals interested in the nursing program but have not been accepted
to the program) are assigned to a faculty advisor. You must see the specified
advisor for assistance. Please check your KCTCS student email for advising information
sent from your advisor. To assist with advising, please bring any transfer
transcripts and your ID number to the session. Frequently
Asked Questions Why didn't I get a letter about advising?
Admissions sends a letter to all currently enrolled students one or two weeks
prior to early enrollment. If you did not receive a letter, you may want to contact
Admissions to check your address and major. Nursing advisors send a follow-up
letter to advisees via the KCTCS email system. Be sure to check your email
periodically for program information and news. Can I call and
set up an appointment for advising? No, each faculty advisor posts appointment
schedules. Please sign up on the posted advising schedule or if a group advising
session is planned by your advisor, attend at a designated time. How
do I change my advisor or major? If you want to change your major to Nursing
Pending, please stop by Admissions or ask your advisor for a "Major, Campus,
and/or Advisor Change Form". I know what classes I want.
Why do I need an advisor? To ensure students are aware of curriculum requirements
for the ADN program, you are required to have a minimum of one academic planning
conference with your nursing advisor. After that time, your advisor may release
you for self enrollment. How do I self-register? After consultation
with your nursing advisor you may be released to self-register. The student then
follows the online
registration process.
OPEN
REGISTRATION (New and Currently Enrolled Students) Beginning
April 14, 2008 New students must submit an application
for admission and take appropriate ACT or COMPASS assessment scores before scheduling
an appointment with an advisor. Since nursing faculty are in clinicals
two days a week and are lecturing three days a week, advising dates are limited
after April 4. Career counselors are available for registration appointments by
phoning 534-3408. -
